Neil Young, Trans Gear.

Post by tim gueguen » Wed Mar 31, 2010 11:52 pm

Pretty simple question. Has anyone ever seen a description of what gear Neil Young used on Trans? The Linn Drum is quite obvious, and I've seen it suggested the vocoder was a Moog. Wikipedia mentions a Synclavier and credits Frank "Poncho" Sampedro with playing Stringman(which is presumably the same string synth he used live on "Like a Hurricane"). I was aware Young owned a Synclav at some point as Henry Kaiser mentioned in an interview doing some programming for it for Young.

I don;t know anythign about the gear used on Trans but I remember hwen that record came out. It was the album that changed Neil Young form "My older brother's music" to my music.

Oh, and it's ironic because I came to like his other stuff much more than Trans. I should give it another listen. I wonder if I can dig up a turntable...
