Using the Moog filter on other synths

Post by gearfixer » Thu May 13, 2010 8:22 pm

I would like to run my RS101 and or Farfisa Fast Five through the filter on my Moog Rogue or ARP Avatar but the gain seems to be lacking compaired to the on board osc of either mono synth. Is there a way to get the signal to equal the synth osc level.

Perhaps run it through a mixer with a Tip/Ring insert jack and pre-amp on the channel, but use a mono cable, so it only sends. Or for a Tip/Ring Insert cable, the synth output goes out on the ring line. Most relevant here is using the mixer channel's pre-amp to boost the level of the source sound. Make sure the synth has a way to completely mute the oscillators. Sometimes even with a pre-filter mixer, the minimum oscillator volume still produces faint droning.
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.
