Which synth would you buy? Some specific features desired.

Post by tomfeiza » Sun Jul 04, 2010 9:39 pm

Hello,

I'm looking for a synth with the following features:
  • Polyphonic
  • Oscillator Sync
  • Keyboard Tracking
  • Noise Oscillator Waveform Option
  • Unison (or some type of chorus)
  • Ring Modulation
  • USB (preferable, but not necessary)
I've been looking at the Prophet '08, but are there any others that you can think of?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Novation Supernova 2
(rack or keyboard)

Easily one of the few powerhouses in the hardware world, easy to operate, lotsa features, a genuine studio work horse. 24, 36 or 48 voices based on how it's expanded or not. 3 oscilators with saw/block/pulse. FM, self-sync, ring, noise. Vocoder (which also works internally between parts, for say strings vocoding drums), various filters, about 8 effects per part, including reverb, chorus, echo, phaser/flanger, eq etc.
"You know I love you, CS, but this is bullshit." (Automatic Gainsay)

I will have to agree. I got my Supernova 2 Pro X about 1-2 months, and I was blown away. There really isn't anything that this synth cannot do. It is a very easy synth to use. I was quite surprised how well it performed. I defintiely recommend it too.
