Short Idea- Opinions Please..?
I was messing around with a song and I came up with this. What do you guys think? Is it already part of something? Good, bad? Where should I go from here?
Re: Short Idea- Opinions Please..?
You've done 1% of the work.
Sounds like you are starting in C#m and modulating into the B harmonic minor scale. You could keep modulating down into A and then back up till you get back to C#m.
The b-section could move into the relative major which is E. It all depends on your playing style. Try to break up the song into movements/sections then fill them out.

Thanks for the help. I wish I understood all of that.

Well, that's just one way to expand on your curent chord progression. Even though you are playing a monosynth, the notes you play should be able to all be played together on a poly therefore making the chord. You are basically using the simple but effective method of modulating down the first note in the chord while the top two remain the same. I do that all the time when I'm playing improv on piano. Really, you could move that progression up an octave on a poly synth and use it for a melody because as a bassline it's really busy. I can hear it in my head... harder to explain, easier to just play. Piano lessons helped me with that kind of thing quite a bit and after a while I realized that about 85% of all music is just the same gimmics.

Put it an octave up and it's a drum and bass melody.
