Roland SH5 problem

Post by radek tymecki » Thu Apr 28, 2011 4:47 pm

I own SH5. All functions work except one thing - every key has same pitch. What can be wrong?

thx

Quick guess: Most analog monosynths have a jack to patch in an external pitch CV. Usualy, the jack is wired so that when you insert a patch cord the internal keyboard CV is disabled and the external CV is fed to the VCOs. When you remove the plug, the contacts should re-connect the keyboard CV to the oscs. If the jack is dirty, corroded or bent - or a wire is off - this could cause the problem.

Also make sure VCO2 Kybd-Follow is switched on. Looks like it isn't, in that photo.
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.
