DX7 II Performance Patches

Post by drumcat9800 » Tue Jan 24, 2012 3:26 am

Hi there, new member here and 1st post.

I've recently acquired a DX7 II FD and have been playing around with loading patches with a USB/MIDI cable.
I can get the 64 voice presets loaded up just fine, but can't figure out for the life of me how to load in the "performance presets" of which there are 32 of these. I don't have any of the ROM/RAM cartridges so my only option is the MIDI port or possibly the floppy drive. The performance presets that are currently loaded aren't the factory voices and I wanted to try those along with others.

I am using MIDIOX and have found the factory voice presets on several places on the web, but how do I find and load up the SYSEX files for the performance presets?

Thanks!

Looks like I figured it out. Most of the patches I found were about 5k in size which are just 1 bank of voices(presets 1-32 or 33-64), but the ones that contain both the voice and performance patches are about 44k in size.

The larger files are the ones that need to be loaded to have both the voice and performance presets loaded up. Hope this helps somebody!

Download this archive, if you haven't done it yet - http://www.synthzone.com/midi/yamaha/dx11/dx711_v1.zip

It contains several sets of GREAT performance and single patches for DX7II (including many D50 emulations).
