Opinions on these two brands? I've recently moved from a studio/warehouse setting to a bedroom in my house. Maybe don't need this much firepower? Perhaps the Rocket series will work just fine (add a subwoofer?), I'm not sure. I'd would like to start addressing the sonic aspects of recording. I want to have active, nearfield monitors as well.
These monitors will be used for multiple purposes, i.e. playing, recording, mixing & engineering. My bedroom-studio is rather small, but the acoustics are good. I'm trying to keep my expenses between $1000-1200 USD, below would be better.

Hey bhrama, I've got some experience with the A7X's in a studio control room environment.
I find them to be well balanced (honest), but still pleasant to listen to music casually on. I definitely find myself hearing things on albums I haven't heard before! I haven't spent long hours on them as of yet, but my friend who owns and works with them 12-14 hours a day, claims little to no fatigue. The control room they're in is definitely bigger than a bedroom, but I they are my first (and really only) choice that I want to replace the Behringers I have at home in my 10x15 music room. The matching sub is nice too, if you need/want that extra low end reference. I typically leave it off when I'm just listening to albums...

I should probably add - I've been working on Behringer Truth B2030A's for a few years now here at home. I do everything with them, just like yourself. I haven't brought anything else into this room for comparison, but honestly these speakers are really decent. They're clear and can handle anything I throw at them. Now, I'm sure they're hyped in certain frequency ranges compared to the Adam's, but if you want to ease yourself into a monitoring situation for cheap, I'd highly recommend them. I just referenced a mix I made on them on the aforementioned A7X's, and it was in the ballpark. I know for a fact though, that most of my problems reside in the treatment of my room at home.

Thanks for the response, I'll look into the Behringers. Sounds right up my alley, do you have a sub to match? I'm not a bass maniac but I'd hat to lose anything or max out my monitors due to the lack of a nice sub. That being said I do enjoy my bass sections...
and overdriven stuff.

i don't have a sub for mine, and I haven't really messed around with sub-bass program material. Sounds like a sub might be good for you, though!

Actually found an open box Adam A7 for 900 shipped from Novamusik! I'll see if the punch is strong enough, and save for a sub if needed later.

I use Adam A7 in my studio and KRK Rokit5 in my living room just for listening. I like the KRK for listening, but I wouldn't use them in the studio - too much bass for my taste. The Adams are awesome, can only recommend them. Apart from that, I also really enjoy the Yamaha HS (50 / 80), they are also cheaper than the Adam. Maybe not as crystall-clear in the highs as the Adam, but still great monitors. I'd personally stay away from B€hringer in general... The only thing I have from them is two patchbays and even those are now starting to do things I don't like...

Well, patchbays are pretty complex pieces of equipment.pflosi wrote: I'd personally stay away from Behringer in general... The only thing I have from them is two patchbays and even those are now starting to do things I don't like...
Thats bad that behringer can't even handle patchbays
