Live Performance Synthesizer (Omnisphere)
Hello!
I play piano / keyboard in a Pop Rock band. We're now adding a second keyboard, and we'd like to use something that can somewhat recreate the high-quality Omnisphere (pad, organ, bells) sounds that we used on our album. Could either do this by tweaking the built-in synthesizer controls, or by "loading sounds" onto a memory card or something. It would be great if it was 49-keys or less. Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you so much!
Michael

Your best choice would be to run Omnisphere on something like a Macbook Air and use the exact patches you used on the album. If you don't have the budget for that, let us know how much you can spend.

Re: Live Performance Synthesizer (Omnisphere)
We have all the supplies (Macbook Pro, MOTU Ultralite, Ableton, Omnisphere) for that, but our lead singer is opposed to having a computer onstage. He thinks it ruins the aesthetic, and if we used Omni TR (an iPad app to wireless control Omnisphere "LIVE" Mode) we'd still have to connect a really long MIDI cable between the MIDI controller and my computer off-stage.
As of right now, the keyboard would be used mostly for piano / organ sounds... I personally think it would be really cool to add some of the ethnic instruments, bells, and various instruments that we used on the actual album later on.
But our singer thinks our best solution is to buy a Casio xw-p1. Have any experience with that keyboard?

No, haven't used it. A Blofeld keyboard can sample and is good at pads etc. Another option would be the Kurzweil PC3KWalker wrote:But our singer thinks our best solution is to buy a Casio xw-p1. Have any experience with that keyboard?

Well, whatever you get make sure the singer pays for itWalker wrote:our lead singer is opposed to having a computer onstage
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Streaming samples from an SSD is very fast. You don't need 40GB for every patch.c-level wrote:i feel like running omnisphere live would be hazardous doesnt it draw from 40mb of samples? why not massive?

Wireless MIDI not an option?Walker wrote: He thinks it ruins the aesthetic, and if we used Omni TR (an iPad app to wireless control Omnisphere "LIVE" Mode) we'd still have to connect a really long MIDI cable between the MIDI controller and my computer off-stage.
