I currently have a juno 106, prophet 600, and dsi mono evolver (the mono evolver is only about 26" long).
After lots of research, it seems that the most convenient option is the Standtastic 103KSB 60". Does anyone know if it will be narrow enough for the mono evolver?
Any other stand suggestions are great as well.

Re: triple synth stands
Probably not... I have one of these.

It was cheaper at the time when I ordered it thru one of my distributors. Works fine for studio work and you can adjust the arms to whichever width you need.

Re: triple synth stands
I found it alot cheaper and easier to get a double X-stand and put a single X-stand underneath that.
More stable too.

Re: triple synth stands
This is the stand I always buy and usually make the bottom tier narrow and I can fit four in a stack.
If I have a narrow synth (or two), I'll sometimes place a plank across the top tier and place two side by side.

I have just discovered these lap top stands and have a bunch of these spread around for smaller units...

Re: triple synth stands
May I add, the On Stage Lap Top Stand (same unit it looks like, maybe different supplier..)
has a clamp to attach it to shelves. I use those on a plank/shelf to add extra tiers.

Re: triple synth stands
I own a Standtastic stand. They are completely adjustable. I've never had mine that narrow before so I can't say how stable it will be. Very nice stands though. I also use their wall units. Great products.

Re: triple synth stands
I looked into three-tier stands recently when I got my Pro Soloist and had to relegate the LIttle Phatty to the floor
The Standtastic ones look great, I'd love one, but they're pretty much impossible or prohibitively expensive to get here in the UK.
In the end I opted for a K&M Spider Pro and additional pair of arms.
The idea was to have my LP on the bottom and probably the Pro Soloist in the middle and Odyssey on the top. My existing two-tier stand was rather high so that the arms and extension arms were close enough together to hold the synths.
I'm very impressed with the design and construction of the K&M, however, the Phatty and Odyssey would just fall straight through so I had to have a rethink. I ended up with my Solina, Logan and Pro Soloist on the K&M as they are all long enough. (My Mopho Keyboard and Dark Energy sit atop the Logan -- they wouldn't stand a chance on most stands
)
I may well get another K&M in time, as I have a plan: I'll get some hardboard and cut a piece long enough to straddle the arms at the bottom where they are widest, then nail a thin piece of wood to the bottom edge to form a lip. This way, the synths would have a large, flat platform to sit on and wouldn't slide off between the arms. I guess something like this would work for your Evolver.
It seems that modern stands are only designed with (some) modern synths in mind, both in terms of size and weight. But many modern ones like the Mopho Keyboard and Minibrute are too small. I have an old Yamaha CP-20 piano I'd like to incorporate into my set-up and it's right on the limit of the stand's weight capacity for a single layer; even the Solina is too heavy for many cheaper X stands.

Re: triple synth stands
I own a Standtastic 3-tier. It's a solid stand, though expensive, at $200+US, and heavy. Its footprint is quite deep, however, given its pyramidal design, and thus not good for a small room or stage. There are also some wing nuts that have to be adjusted on setup/breakdown, and thus easy to unscrew and lose.

Re: triple synth stands
I need a good old-fashioned tubey 1980s stand. I have a lot of synths, and I need them accessible, and I don't want that current thing mounted upon thing mounted upon thing stand that people are using.

Re: triple synth stands
The Standtastics are the best stands I've ever owned and I've had just about all of them... One thing you can do is use cheap industrial strut and attach it to the wall and mount Standtastic arms to it. This is what I did and is a lot cheaper and sturdier than the Standtastic wall-mount kit -

Re: triple synth stands
I can't seem to practically justify more than 2 tiers. What's holding me back on all of these 3 tier options is basically either the bottom tier is too low with each tier spaced out enough, the top tier is too high, or there's not enough space between the bottom two tiers for knob-laden interfaced synths to not only be able to reach any knob, but to see the interface clearly without too much shadow from the tier above it.
The wall strut solution above might be fine if I didn't mind standing on a stool to play the top item, and have a small chair for the bottom one.

I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

Re: triple synth stands
The top tier is playable while standing and the bottom is perfectly playable while seated in a normal chair. Being able to play them from a common MIDI keyboard of course helps too if they have MIDI. I could actually move them closer together than in that pic and I am thinking of adding a 4th tier... I previously used 4-tier A-frames without issues...

I've been considering this one, too. But is it possible to buy more of the support arms so that, for example, you could mount two narrow keyboards on each tier?gtivr6fan wrote:Probably not... I have one of these.

It was cheaper at the time when I ordered it thru one of my distributors. Works fine for studio work and you can adjust the arms to whichever width you need.

Re: triple synth stands
I've bought several of those and chopped the horizontal tubes down from 48" to 44" (just wide enough for 61 key polys) to save space in my studio. You can buy extra parts from On Stage's website, but depending on what parts you need, you're better off buying a second stand and parting it out.Aaron2 wrote:I've been considering this one, too.
