nord modular communication issues

So for some reason my nord modular editor wont open patches on the machine. In fact, when I open the editor, it does not load the patch thats in bank one on the screen like it normally does. When I open a patch, it does not ask me what slot it wants to go into. I assume this is a communication issue. I replaced the midi cables, new drivers for interface... still nothing. The weird thing is that it was working properly last night :/

Details for those who would be willing to help me out:

pro tools 9
windows 7
motu audio express
only midi communication from interface is to and from the nord

After trolling this forum and elctro-music.com for quite some time, I have found no answers. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Maybe it's late and I am tired, but I do no tthink i've missed something :/
