Very simple beginning modular setup wanted

Maybe a bit off-topic, but can anyone tell me how to operate Z3ta+? Because none of the 'tutorials' actually cover how to make it output noise. Only how to control the noise. I'm guessing that, even though it's labelled a stand-alone program, that you in fact need something else to go with it. I don't want to control it with an external device like a keyboard, but rather just make it output a constant sound which I can modify. Maybe recommend another virtual synth if this one isn't made for that purpose?
