I thought this was a thread, not a Möbius strip.

Perhaps the misleading thread title could be changed.

I said something about that a while ago, to no avail. Let's try and run it through spell check at the very least.

It looks like they really got it right this time. It will be a while for me, but in 3-5 years, who knows. Hopefully, Moog will come out with a poly around then and folks will be dumping these cheap.

Why is this thing only 37 keys? the voyagers still got 44, right? and duophony would make more keys more interesting

smcumber wrote:That's "polyphonic" in the classical music sense. "Polyphonic" when referring to synthesizers means each voice runs through a separate envelope and filter, instead of sharing one. Both of these voices have the ability to have independent pitches but share the same envelope/filter, so it is paraphonic.
I'm sorry, but no.

"Polyphonic" in regard to synthesizers means multiple voices, and that's the end of it.

What you're talking about is our desire for each voice to have individual articulation... which is a different matter.

The term "paraphonic" applies to monophonic synthesizers, too.

[Keeping in mind, as CZ Rider pointed out, that originally "paraphonic" was a word created by Roland to describe synthesizers with multiple overlapping sections]

Let's count the number of times we have to go over the definitions of "polyphonic" and "paraphonic" for someone who missed it the first time. I'm at 247.

Maybe instead of writing 'paraphonic' on it they should have written 'monophonic with a cool split osc trick'. I guess maybe that wouldn't fit on the panel.

I would need to hear it in the flesh to starts GASing. So far, for all the features it's overall tone is leaving me cold .
