IIRC, the MkI used the same batteries that make the synth play to save memory as well.
Uses 6 "C"-cells

Some MkI P800s do have the space on the motherboard for the backup battery but it wasn't installed at the factory. Easy to add if you know how to solder.

In the meantime, get some C cells. If you don't use them to actually power the synth they will keep the memory alive for a couple of years.

Instructions for the battery mod - do so at your own risk.

I have a Korg Poly 800 mk1 without the square solder lands for a back up battery. Do any mods exist for this version or am I doomed to always use C-cell batteries for saving all my patches while the unit is off?

Hello, the guide that @Hybrid88 seems not working. Maybe someone deleted it.
Could i have an active link to the guide, or a video that shows how to do it?
I am in the same situation.. no presets, And no battery place on the motherboard of the korg poly 800 .
