Post by Tonebone » Tue Oct 10, 2006 11:28 pm

Hi there,
I´ve connected my Waldorf Microwave XT to a powersupply with wrong polarisation. javascript:emoticon('')
Now it´s dead, no Lamps, no Sound. javascript:emoticon(':crybaby:'),window.close()
Does everyone know, how i can turn back the time or anything like that to bring that baby back to life? javascript:emoticon(':dontknow:'),window.close()

Where are you from? If you're in Canada, I'd look at it for an obscenely low price. I'm honest and reliable. But accept repairs from everywhere too.

Could be a simple fix or a more elaborate one. Sure thing, there's a short... For the extend of the "damages", I'd have to actually see the synth. I lack imagination when it come to all the possible scenarios.

Lemme see if in my grimoires there is not a relative simple solution to the problem.

Canada? No I´m far away from you. in Germany...
Isn´t there something like a fuse or what or something cheap that burns off by wrong supply?

If I am not mistaken, the XT does not have a fuse. But the PSU have taken a blow for sure. I don't have the XT schematics atm. If I did, I would have a much better understanding of what could have be "damaged". I ignore if Waldorf thought of a protection against that.

For a quick inspection: open it up and check in the power supply circuit for physically damaged components. Try to replace capacitors. Check the copper tracks of the PCB: at times, the reverse polarity can break them. That's for starter.

After that, check the state of the ICs, transistors, etc... In short, inspect everything in there.

If you are willing to ship it, I promise I'll take good care of it. Drop me a email from my website (click on the banner)

Thank you! I never wanted the austerity look. Many repair shops' website are boring as h**l. I'm trying to make it a bit wacko, like I am.

Hi thanks 123,
I think Waldorf is the wrong Adress. If they did not built in this 1$ part to avoid this desaster, Im shure that they wanted to sell a new Mainboard for at laest $400 to idiots like me. In the 90s you could sell the crankest c**p if "keyboards" tested it as good. So it only had to be noiseless and it had to be multitimbral with so many voices as possible and its very important that you can adjust the displaycontrast...Nothing about safety devices against daft musicians. Oops I´m off topic.
For 450$ I can buy another used XT and pin the old on the wall of my toilet. Next week a Friend of me will take a look in its brain. I really hope that they forgot to bult in that "smash-the-processor-because-we-need-more-money-circuit" and it will have a good end .
Am i the only fool who has done this to his XT?

I sincerly hope your friend will find a fuse.

If not and the XT is pronounced dead, I might have use of the remains. Contact me if you plan to get rid of it.
