Six Trak Memory Problems

Post by the other guy » Mon Oct 16, 2006 3:21 pm

Hi there,

I've been away from home for a little while and come back to realise some of my gear has been feeling neglected and is now playing up on me.

My Six Trak has one hundred presets of the same sound. I got on it last night and made a few new one's and was about to do a complete sysex dump this evening when I realised the sounds I made last night had gone.

I'm hoping this is just a flat battery or someting. Any ideas?

Let this be a lesson to you all, don't neglect your beloved vintage keys!

Thanks,

Chris

Most likely your battery has expired. Replacing it will require soldering, so if you don't have any experience doing that you'll need to go to a professional. A good place won't charge more than $50 to replace the battery - a better place will do it for $35 or so.

I really suck at soldering so I typically have batteries that need it replaced professionally.

It's a 3V lithium battery. You can't miss it, it's big (usually yellow).

If I remember correctly, it uses a Panasonic 3V 1200mAh with soldering tabs. When you delsolder it, have a look on the battery: all the infos are printed on it. Such a battery is available at places like Digi-Key, Mouser, etc.

:D Yeah, thanks. I needed the change.

I'm also a bit fan of Futurama (and I hear they gonna relaunch the series. Woohoo!), especiall of the Professor Farnsworth. Ok I've got a bit more hair but almost as senile! And I took there the legendary "insert-with-hammer" microchip technique. I owe him everything I know about electronics. Thanks Prof!

POSTED: 12:23 pm EDT June 23, 2006
UPDATED: 12:54 pm EDT June 23, 2006

Three years after being canceled by FOX, Matt Groening's animated series "Futurama" is returning to television with new episodes.

Comedy Central announced on Friday that is has ordered 13 new episodes, which will begin airing on the cable network in 2008.

The network licensed the 72 FOX episodes from 20th Century Television last year and also obtained the rights to any new episodes that might be produced.

Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio have all agreed to return for the new episodes.
