I just bought a Mac G4 (grey and blue) tower running OS 9, I installed OS 10.2 and it seemed sucessful and asked me to restart the computer as it should but now it keeps asking me to restart every time I turn it on. I think maybe the disc (not a copy) might have corrupted it or something because looking at the playing surface afterwards, I found it was scratched. Am I going to need a new hard disk/ G4. Goddamn I am gutted. Would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks
What exactly is the error?
The generic thing to try first is repair permissions, boot from the OS disc, go into disk utility and hit repair permissions.
If that doesn't fix it and you just want to be able to use your machine in os9, boot from the OS disc, go into the startup disk panel, choose OS9 and reboot.
You really should run tiger though; every release of OSX (so far) has been faster for me on older machines. You can pick the installer discs up for not too much.
