SCI Six-Trak and DrumTraks Voltage Conversion

Post by the other guy » Fri Oct 20, 2006 4:52 pm

Hi there,

Is there any easy way to change the voltage from 110v to 240v on the Six-Trak and/or DrumTraks?

Thanks for your help,

Chris

No. You would have to replace the transformer and all the associated circuitry. Why not just use a commercial 220-115 transformer instead?

Yes, use a step-down transformer/converter. I assume that your voltage at home is 240 VAC and the gear requires 110 VAC, right?

Those things are available at electronics stores.

Thanks for your quick responses guys.

I was more so wondering if there's switches inside the units that switch the voltage over?

I picked up a Pro-One and Prophet-600 which have voltage switches on the back, nice and easy!

We just opened up an Oberheim DX the other day and discovered that it had a voltage selector switch inside the unit on top of the power transformer. I was wondering if SCI might have done something similar internally?

Also curious about the Split-Eight as we're expecting one of them shortly too.

Thanks again.

I could be wrong but to the best of my knowledge, there is no voltage selection switch.
