That book (and the DX7II's) is essential. Unfortunately, rare as f00k too.

I think the best course of action is to have a look a eBay, Alibris and Amazon from time to time. Or you can post a request on some DX7 Yahoo Groups. Who knows, maybe there is one that will sell his copy at a reasonable price.

here i was thinking i had 2 copies of this, but i just looked over at them and one is for the dx7 while one is for the dx7ii.
these are not for sale, but i wanted to let you know there are different versions of this book. there may even be another tutorial book or 2 on the dx7 as a couple companies were making books like that back then. if you ask me, "the complete dx7/2" is a bit much - its a seriously thick book possible with too much info.
good luck.

There is another complete guide called The Complete DX7 (books for I and II) that teach you DX programming from the very bottom to the very advanced. I have it, it's from 1986. Found it for $50 on Amazon, but when you find something as rare as that, you just buy it before someone else does.

It's 300 pages of theory and exercises to break up every chapter. Extremely useful. Even has 3 "soundsheets" (thin LP records) with all the sound examples on inside the cover.
No way in h**l I'd have a chance of figuring out that synth without the book.

Bitexion,
You wouldn't happen to have digitized the sound sheets for Book I (AIFF, WAVE, MP3?). I bought a used book awhile back that had no sound sheets. If you do please let me know. Thanks.

I don't even have a record player so I can play them myself. But every example is a step-by-step programming guide, so you shouldn't need it when you hear what it sounds like on the synth anyway.
