JX10 bulk dump

Post by Strangenono » Fri Aug 24, 2007 4:11 pm

Hi everyone,
I' d like to know how to dump my JX 10 mermory to the computer to make a sysex. I know that it can't do that directly form the internal memory so I uploaded my internal memory into the M-64C. Then I launch CPJXwin and click transmit, then I push write on the keyboard , midi, and midi bulk dump...But nothings happen !!! the computer only receive 8 octets and the jx keeps on sending messages. What have I forgotten ? I saw sysex on many sites so with a m-64c it should be possible ? Please help me
Thx

I've never performed SysEx dumps on any of my synths. I scaned this out of the back of the JX-10 Owner's Manual. Hope it helps:

Thx for your scan Z but I still got mine but if you look at , Roland didn't mention anything about a sysex dump. That's miserable making such a good synth with a so poor manual full of hexa line-code and telling nothing about a proper dump. If anyone has a suggestion, you are welcome.
Z thx again for your help

Hi Strangenono. I've had the same DUMP problem with my JX-10, but only using Colin Fraser's modified firmware (that allow parameters editing using PC software editors - http://www.colinfraser.com/jx10/jx.htm) . I couldn't DUMP from the M64C card to the PC, only LOAD operation worked fine. When trying to dump CPJX always freezed at "..receiving data block 1 of 64" with the JX10 showing the flashing message "MIDI BULK DUMP" and no result. Anyway the LOAD operation was fine.
With the original ROM set (I used version 2.1 and now have 2.3) I can successfully DUMP and LOAD my sound banks using CPJXWIN (I have a Windows XP based PC with an old SoundBlaster Live card).
I think you're doing the right DUMP procedure, anyway take a look at this great SuperJX site http://members.iquest.net/~twilight/superjx.html where you can find many useful informations that can't be found in the user manual.

anyway:

- what ROM version are you using? (press and hold the Patch Memory "H" button while powering up)
- is the JX-10 LOAD operation working fine?
- what midi interface are you using? does it work fine dumping with other gear?
- did you set to "off" the card and synth memory protection switch during the operation?

The old website address mentioned above for the CPJXWIN utility is no longer active.
The new website is: http://llamamusic.com/super-jx/utils.html
