Finally...DRUM MACHINES return!!!! Woot Woot! The Alesis looks slick... the Aksi looks ok... they most likely will be relatively cheap too.

I THINK THEY ARE THE SAME MACHINE! Look at the screen for both. You'll notice they are the same! Akai and Alesis are both numark arent they??? I dont think they would put out the same machine in two different packages, but they do appear to have the same color/look of screen.

ah, youre a kind man. i found the pics at alesis in all their close up glory. and they kept the a/b pattern fill instant flipping. i have hoped beyond logic that alesis would update the sr16 (i have 4 of these), and am quite surprised that they did. i hate the fact that i am going to buy this for whatever it costs when it will first appear, despite the fact that the price will probably drop in a few months (and the fact that i just bought a roland r70, which is a fantastic drum machine that buries the R8 in every way)

i think the akai looks pretty swell too.

i too am happy to see drum machines returning to the market.

Good call. Same software, same back panel, different h/w interface and features. The Akai has an interesting feature: "Pattern Play Mode - Different patterns can be triggered from individual pads."

Those two battery powered Drum machines (and the SR18) looks very cool with the nice big-blue screen.

I hope there's a FM/Hybrid synth in there..instead of just an interactive controller.

True... but I think it's new for a machine that I imagine will sell for @ $200. Incidentally, the SR-18 has the same feature set. I guess they are identical in all but labelling, cosmetics and front panel layout.

or at least put a space for 3 PLG boards with the ability to layer those in a flexible performance mode..and sell the Limited Edition, installed with the AN, VL and DX boards with a special low price.

I bet the SR18 has new samples. The SR16 had great cymbols and some funky kicks/congas...I circuit bent mine to great effect. hello SR18 bending

Anyone know anything about Radikal Technologies' Hybrid Eelements? Didn't see any info upon a cursory glance.
there is a bunch of info on the spectralis forum on spectralis.de. There are a lot of pissed off spectralis owners.
Oh, man-you're not kidding!

I haven't visited there in a while-basically, since I sold my Spectralis last year. Glad I did sell it. Probably a textbook example of why a company should not release beta-version hardware. Jered-forgive my impatience-take your time with the XS!
