BCR2000 refusing to map in Ableton

Post by jimi_t » Wed Mar 12, 2008 6:57 pm

Fairly self-explanatory. Got meself a BCR2000 for a song but can't seem to get it working.

The only other peripheral connected to the computer in question is a Tascam US-428 Control surface/interface which is working normally.

USB Drivers are the latest.
Firmware is the latest.
Tried it in modes u-1 to u-4.
Ableton MIDI-indicator isn't picking up anything.

I tried using BCEdit (freeware alternative to the behringer editor) to reload the factory presets on the beast to no avail. In between all this messing about it decided to work with ableton (i.e. I was able to map stuff in MIDI Map mode) but when I closed the session it was back to square one.

...help?

Right, so when I use Behringers proprietary Sysex dumper to update the firmware to the latest reiteration, one in three attempts I'm usually able to map controls within said ableton session. In between that I'm getting the odd BSOD, most of which seem to be USB related - I got *five* "This system has recovered from a serious error" boxes upon rebooting; a new record - thanks Behringer!

I guess that's why it was cheap then. Did you buy it new or second hand? Might be time to take it back.

Nah, in terms of hardware its fine - everything is configuring properly and the LEDs are chasing etc... Basically its down to shoddy drivers and not properly setting up my two control surfaces I reckon; its supposed to be rock solid in standalone mode, it certainly is intuitive.

Anyways, after flashing some preset SysEx bank onto it seems to be working fine - its an absolutely marvellous piece of kit - 32 full size pots with LED illumination (and various bling functions), can do the whole Mackie emulation thing and it only cost me $130 shipped in its original box/manual/inserts. Even at its RRP its a steal compared to what Novation et al are putting out, at the caveat of non-existent support.

Also, I was completly unaware that this was even possible but check out the VU metering which borrows the top rob of knobs' LEDs.
