Why does my juno-60 double trigger notes?

Post by chinchee » Fri Jan 02, 2009 4:06 am

When I play, i guess what I can best describe as "fast and sharp", on my juno-60 keys, they double trigger. It's like the recoil is so strong on the key that it causes a double note. Can this be fixed?

Thanks

It's probably just dirty. I've had the same behavior on my Juno60.

You can open it up and clean the keycontacts with isopropryl alcohol (not "rubbing")...make sure it's 100% with no water or additives or you will just make things worse.

Alternately if you "exercise" the keys a bit by repeated playing, the double-triggering may go away.

Be careful with the alcohol, it is fine to use, but only once and lightly, as you can easily scrub the carbon off. I disagree with using denatured alcohols such as methylated spirits, denatured alcohols have additives to render them undrinkable or to dye them. Sports "rubbing alcohol" is also no good as it is full of additives, best to use pure isopropyl alcohol, this is what is normally used for tape heads and such as it does not leave residues.

If you get double triggering on all the keys when playing hard, that is unusual, it doesn't sound like a symptom of dirty keys though, are you sure there isn't an intermittent connection in there, or a mechanical mis-alignment in the action?

You can stop reading right here.... this guy doesn't know.

The Roland Juno 60 has metal switch contacts, not the rubber with carbon.

Just clean the contacts with Deoxit gold , all you need to do is spray them lightly, no physical rubbing or touch of the contact is needed

you can use isopropyl alcohol on those juno contacts....i get these in the workshop almost every week now and just getting inbetween the contacts with kitchen roll dipped in isopropyl does the job.

be care full not to bend the leaf spring....its a pain to get them back making contact properly.

lol! the guy that you are quoting is one of the most respected vintage synth technicians worldwide. Obviously he made a mistake but why did you bother replying to a 6 years old thread?
