Ensoniq SQ1-Plus problems

Hello!

I picked up a used Ensoniq SQ1-Plus worksation synth for my daughter to sketch on from the swap shop in san jose and all the keys were working for about two weeks when suddenly 8 keys begining at C7(?) stopped working. None of the eight keys will respond, either to onboard sounds or midi trigger. Bummer! Any ideas? It only cost me $79 and it was a decent controller, even if extremely heavy. I opened it up last night and could not see any physical damage or differences between those and the working keys.

Another issue is we sketched some sequences on the internal sequencer and we would like to save them to a PC as midi. I can trigger to a soft synth on the PC via midi but when I push the Play button play the sequences are not sending the midi events to the PC. Do I have to put them in a song first? I have not got that far. Any ideas?

Does the SQ1 plus use a bridged keyboard where the keybed is in two sections?

I'll give you $81 for it and even come pick it up

Hi

Are the 8 keys in a pattern or is it 8 consecutive keys? You can set the 8 tracks on the sequencer to Local, MIDI or Both. To record on a PC you need to make sure it's not set to local. If the machine is fully functional I would keep it as it is easy to program and has some great sounds.

i would clean the key contacts as they might be the culprit...
