The development engineers working on E-mu's earlier digital gear must have been on something... if you look carefully there are bizarre jokes to be found both inside and outside their early products:
From Emulator II's CPU board: E2-BRUTE? Two from EMAX rack front panel pcb:
In Case of Fire, Break Glass! RAD RAX Beyond Thunderdrum?? An there there's EMAX II's infamous "Bird Run" LCD animation found in MASTER #7 module

It's fun to just open the machines to search for all those comments

Sequential used to do that too, although I think their forte was odd graphics rather than slogans.

It's the synth equivalent of a humorous matrix etching on an LP; a little something extra for those with a sharp eye.

Read it backwards:

Also took these pics of some spare Emax boards I have laying around:

sure these guys were hi-tech hippies smoking weed during their working hours ....
New EMU is not so cool. They took from my AMEX $149.00 for a ROM that I got from their website, made the debit twice, despite multiple calls and letters during a year, never refunded me

I know - it's sad - gone are the days of such fun - It's all money driven corporate c**p these days. Gone are the days of Silicon Valley startups who did it for the love of it!

Re: E-mu's Bizarre Sense Of Humour!
that's definitly Nerd sense of humor but still funny!

I love their gear except for those crappy romplers assembled on China PK7 and Ensoniq-Emu Halo, Command stations are simple awesome sequencers and romplers//
nowadays, nice products but they can go to h**l as a Company and their website sucks a big time, I won't forget those $149 + S/H....
But I'm nuts to get the Ultra Sampler in ordeer to burn my own roms. EMU samplers ROCKS!
Now I'm really curious, I'm gonna open the command station
The software programmers, still being a great team. They give a lot of support to the Emu users on the Command station Yahoogroups.

Wasn't there a picture of a banana slug on the boards of some Drumulators?

I want to open my ESI-32 now, but still has the factory sticker/seal.
Mackie has a very bizarre sense of humor in their instruction manuals. They know nobody reads them. So they describe fader noise being caused by the wiper that stumbles across airborne crud. Very technical and scientific you see.

Re: E-mu's Bizarre Sense Of Humour!
Indeed, Mackie manuals ARE great! They're very clear, concise and informative, with a friendly, casual tone (instead of sounding like the monotonous delivery of a very boring tech writer), and littered with excellent humour, from chuckle-worthy to howl-inducing. Easily some of the best manuals I've ever read.
