(ok, i do not mean synths that are broken or with some functional impairment or drastic limitations), just synths that just SEAT there in your studio.
Synths that you may (or may not) dust regularly... and of which you think and take a hasty look sometimes ..
Synths that you know are hard to find or expensive or cool or..., but still, synths that you haven't turned on for 1, 2,.. years.
do you feel some "guilt" about this gear being ignored ? or do you conclude: "it's ok , i might need it some day" (but just not knowing when) ?
thinking about this, as for me an instrument is like a lover, and well, things "change" and a new partner comes up, and...
but whereas ex -lovers tend to rapidly move on (!), unused gear will stay there, silently loyal, waiting for you.... until you renew acquaintance or finally get rid of it.
THAT to me is the ultimate anti -GAS feeling.

My Akai S2800i does not see much action these days. I tend to go straight to the S1000.

Korg M1... I only bought it last year (*very* cheap) and never took to it, just sounded somehow fake (distant, non involving, flat) to me... will prob sell one day but keeping atm because it's 'nice' for the 'classics' collection ;0

My TX7. I can't be bothered to check out the, oh, 10,000+ patches available online to find ones I like, and like f*** I'm going to program my own....
I'm not really sure why I bought this thing...

Nothing. If something is sitting without getting used, I sell it. Love em or leave em.

I am amazed when I see topics like this. I always think Just how interesting can a forum focused totally on Vinatge Synths be? And wham another interesting topic...
I have a few, but the Juno 106 is the most glaring. I've heard about them for so many years. I'd visit a studio and there would always be one sitting there and I'd ask With all these modern synths, why is the Juno still in play? Everyone speaks so highly about it. A few times users have identified a cool sound in a record as a Juno AND the Juno was a prime synth in the early VST wars that nothing could emulate or replace.
And so I snagged one. Very, very easy to program sounds on. Even to learn about synths on.
Perfect 1st keyboard, but a little underpowered compared to everything else around today.
No regrets, but she is collecting dust now.

Fortunately none in my case. I instituted a "one in, one out" policy when i got back into synths a few years back. I only have four on the go at any given time, so it's unlikely one with sit unplayed for more than a month.

None of the synths... although the TR-626 is not getting a lot of action recently.

Roland W-30. I can't bring myself to sell it because of the current market value.

TB 303. No, it's not for sale.
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

That would be the Alesis Ion. It's been standing in the softbag against the wall for at least a year now. "Feeling shameful".
Not because I don't like it, just that I have too little space for synths in my apartment. At least it doesn't get dusty inside the bag.
