I kept waiting for the Ramones to appear and beat the s**t out of them.
That I said, I like the look of those controller thingies.
What are these?

Ha, what would online forums be for if not for letting off steam.

I think GPS coordinates leading people to the Oh No Ono fan club are off.
Too futurist to live.
Re: What are these?
I'm not sure exactly. I agree that Mercury Rev were good and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. There is just something about the sound of that one song that reminds me of some stuff they did.Stab Frenzy wrote:How? I actually like the video to "Swim" very much. It's kind of disturbing but there is some truth in the way the boy is seeing everything in a sexual way. That song is the best that I've heard from Oh No Ono (but it's not as good as Mercury Rev)...

Wow. They are even worse than the Ramones.

Objection. I'd like the record to reflect that this is a heinous untruth.Cumulus wrote:"Swim" reminds me of a band called Mercury Rev that was out about a decade ago.
Gear List: A bunch that go 'WHHONNGG!', several that go 'tweedle tweedle' and 'thumpity', and a few that don't make any noise at all but have lots of delightful little lights on them.

I'm not saying it's in the same league with Mercury Rev. It just sounds like they listened to some MR and then said "Oh, we can do that." and then tried to do that.CapnMarvel wrote:Objection. You're going to hate this review. They seem to hear the connection as well.Cumulus wrote:I'm not saying it's in the same league with Mercury Rev. "Aske Zidore’s high pitched voice (imagine Mercury Rev’s Jonathan Donahue up an octave), however individual, can sometimes struggle for room, so that the songs overflow with instrumentation and vocals are a secondary concern"
...and this one as well:

"The high, feminine tone paired with the sweeping arrangement brings to mind Mercury Rev at the dawn of this decade,"
There are more out there but it does not diminish Mercury Rev to have these Emo kids trying to emulate them. It just makes me want to pull out my old MR cassettes and have another listen to hear how it's supposed to be done...
