With storm season here, I would like to know what everyone uses when the power goes out.
I'm looking to build a setup like this with my 606, but obviously dont have the $$ to shell out for a 303, 101, or any other roland for that matter.
So I guess I just need some little portable synth that maybe has a couple of multitimbral parts and an audio-in, if its possible.
Thanks in advance,
-XM
P.S. - I'm not electronics-savvy so probably wouldn't try to mod an EA-1 to have a battery pack, in case that comes to mind

My stylophone and 606 get me a long way. No need for any external mixer or speaker. Also the microkorg is a cheap battery powered synthesizer.

Most are in the picture >>>
Which are the QY70, SU10, NDS (running DS10 and others) and Beaterator on the PSP. The others are the X-stn, SHS-10, SYB-3, PSS-560 and Zoom SB-246. But nothing beats the DS10 for portability, by size, interface and rechargeable battery.

The 303, and a 202, and a Boss Dr-110 with sync in. Its a 3,5mm jack and not the same sync pulse but I program a fast gate from the 202s second sequencer.

Re: Name your all-battery-operated synth setup
Too bad JSRockit's gone AWOL... he would be all over this thread.
The problem is, while there are many batt-operated drum machines, there are few synths except for like the tb303/mc202/microkorg (which is also great for its size).
EDIT: just remember the cz101 and korg 707 are also battery powered. Is the DX100? (even if it's not, there are a million consumer-grade Yamaha FM synths that are). You could actually have a pretty tight and portable "mini-keys" synth setup using a couple of the aforementioned synths.

Re: Name your all-battery-operated synth setup
My CZ-1000 chewed through those D-cells pretty damn quickly the one time I tried it. I think the battery option for the CZ's is best viewed as a novelty rather than a viable alternate means of powering them.
The only other battery-powered things I have are the MiniKP, DR-110, and Zoom MRT3b drum machine. They all seem to have decent battery life.

I have my MicroKorg and DR-110 + loads of toy keyboards...
Did the Yamaha CS-01 run on batteries?

Akai XR20. Not a synth, but it does have synth samples in it, along with plenty of drums, etc.

The Novation XioSynth runs on 6 AA Batteries....
I find it useful if the power goes on or your travelling.
Oh....and it's also a fairly cheap synth to purchase.
