Re: Name your all-battery-operated synth setup
Problem solved!
Got a DS lite w/ Korg DS-10+ for my birthday
Its funny how much it reminds me of Neil Landstrumm's old stuff on Peacefrog.
He must have used the real MS-10 on his "Brown by August" EP back in the day.
My DS's skin is even silver to match my TR-606!

No one has mentioned the DR 55 yet. And isn't the 808 capable of being powered by batteries??

No one's mentioned the Yamaha DX100 yet?
During the summer I would take it out back poolside and noodle on it with headphones.
I used to do the same with a Microkorg but I sold that.

Re: Name your all-battery-operated synth setup
i actually lost power last year for a few days, and was reduced to using just my 606 & 101. do-able, but it was limmited to just jamming and making little sequences because i couldn't record anything due to no computer. after that, i wished more of my gear was batterypowered.
and i kind of like the microkorg a bit better now that i know it runs on batteries...

The Casio is the CK-500. It has dual cassette decks (which are not functioning) and a radio built in.xenomorph313 wrote:Oh......my.........:drool:Cumulus wrote:Here is part of my battery-operated set up.

Wow cumulus thanks for those great pics. Which casio is the one with the little grey knobs? Is that the MT-700?
Geez, the build quality of the Nintendo DS must be horrid. There are about a zillion "AS-IS" units on Ebay right now....

Re: Name your all-battery-operated synth setup
i don't think the QY-100 has been mentioned. for such a small module, it is quite powerful. decent FX which can also process the aux input. enough polyphony to build a relatively complex tune.
the sequencer is somewhat wonky, but once you understand it you can build up a tune very quickly.
the mini-keyboard is also quite usable for tapping in notes.
i use the QY-100 a lot when traveling. its fun to pass the time on a plane and it fits on the tray on the even the tiny regional jets. i also take my QY-100 to coffee shops, bars, etc. as a bonus, its quite a conversation piece.

Yeah DX100 cool little 4OP! Looks nice and purposeful (good for learning BASIC FM theory on too)

in fact i still have an old 486 laptop that is only use for g1 editor. the external psu died and i found my way out by pluging another psu right in the battery terminal. when i opened it up i found out that it was actual bateries half way between aa's and c's, ni-cd.
