So, I am just curious, if you guys had the opportunity to have a tech build you a custom synth, what would you include as part of the design?
I am asking because I am going to do just this, and I have a local tech guy whom I have convinced to let me give him money to do this.
I will use this thread as a reference as to what I am going to have built!
As always, I cannot wait to hear what you guys have to say!

An Ensoniq version of the Kronos:
Six engines in a 88-note case:
TS
ASR
FIZMO
SQ-80
plus -
A harmonic additive synth (like Kawai K5) with a 3-D touch-screen GUI
and
A sample-playback engine using bizarre, industrial type loops and one-shots fed thru 16 parallel multi-mode filters (outputs of other engines can be fed in too)

No. I will google away! lol I still love the idea of having a custom analog built, to do something maybe no other synth does, or just out of love for synths in general ya know?OntarioHydro wrote:ever heard of the Buchla Music Easel?

Re: Custom Synth
Save yourself the heartache and hassle and just start a modular. It'll work out cheaper in the long run, and unless your local tech guy is George Mattson or something you're not gonna end up with anything that exciting.phesago wrote:No. I will google away! lol I still love the idea of having a custom analog built, to do something maybe no other synth does, or just out of love for synths in general ya know?OntarioHydro wrote:ever heard of the Buchla Music Easel?

To be fair, that is the smarter thing to do. I think I will have him make me a custom Envelope Generator for my MoogerTron first. If I am happy with it, maybe I'll still do this as well.

I'd love a TI keyboard with green LED's and green backlit screen.

1) have a really great tech who's exceptional in various disciplines from EE to programming embedded systems
2) spend boatloads of cash for a one-off - (that amount might've gotten you a Jupiter 8 even at today's inflated prices)
3) have it in the shop half of the time because of bugs / things you didn't consider during design
