Hi, new to the forum, can someone pelase help me by breaking down what type of sounds and synths are used to achieve this kind of sound in this song:
The producer is dam-funk and I have researched what kind of equipment he uses, the oberheim matrix 6 and the Roland JX-3P are some of the synths he has used but im not sure if he used this in the track
Also if i could ask what kind of name this sounds will get? For me it sounds like some kind of vintage funk vibe
Lastly if anyone knows any type of synth that can emulate this type of sounds it will be really helpful! Especially if it's cheap.
Thanks

Re: Synth breakdown
We could help you better if you posted a YouTube video along with time stamp(s) of the sound(s) you are looking for.
Also, define "cheap". The JX-3P and Matrix 6 are relatively inexpensive synthesizers. Both of these a 6 voice polyphonic analog synthesizers. The JX-3P has that classic "fat" Roland sound and the Matrix 6 can produce a wide variety of timbres from its modulation matrix.
The only modern hardware synthesizer that would be comparable in sound, features, and price would be the Behringer DeepMind series, which is available in 6 and 12 voice versions both as keyboard synthesizer or desktop module.
Other vintage synthesizers to look at would be the Akai AX60 & AX80, Kawai K3, Korg Poly61 & DW-8000, and Roland Alpha Juno 1 & 2.

Re: Synth breakdown
Since you didn't include a time stamp, I'm assuming you're asking about the chords with the rhythmic filter sweep.
It seems more complex than a standard ADSR, so it's either a synth with more than 4stage envelope or synth with ADSR along with a retriggerable LFO. The Matrix 6 fits the bill for the latter.

Re: Synth breakdown
Thanks! I didn't include a timestamp because Iwas refering to the whole track in general, all the synths sounds in it.
Also Im really curious on how to describe this type of sounds, is it vintage funk? Or something similar to that?
Im trying to replicate the same kind of vibe and Im looking for a synth or VST that gets the job done
Thanks!

Re: Synth breakdown
I don't know what you mean by "vintage funk". That makes me think of Parliament/Funkadelic, Ohio Players, Headhunters, etc, which that track or sound is obviously not.

Re: Synth breakdown
Oh, so which genre applies to that track?

Re: Synth breakdown
To me, it sounds like Chill Wave until that awful trap beat and rap starts.

Re: Synth breakdown
Korg Poly800 and DW series can do it with their complex envelopes.

Can the Juno-106 achieve it?
