I thought you guys might be interested to know what Larry Fast had to say about his contribution
to Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is"...

"I definitely played on that song. That was one
whole night at Right Track with Alex Sadkin and Mick all by itself. I
can't say about the final mix and anyone else's work, but I did a lot
of those kinds of parts--DX7 bells, very expansive pads from the
Memorymoog plus efx."

It appears they got many of the top session players at the time and had them come in individually laying a ton of tracks which was sorted out later. The budget for these sessions must have been phenomenal.

I'm afraid we'll never find out whose take(s) were used in the end. Maybe they decided to use bits from
all of them, who knows....

I'm not sure about the correct synths used, but I built an Ableton patch using Xpand!2, Dexed (DX-7 Cartridge 2b), and Oberheim (Ob-xd). I am aware that this thread is over 10 years old, but the music never ages.

If you have any questions, my discord is Campbell#1054

Let me know what you think!

In my opinion as long as these songs exist, people will want to know how to make or access synth patches. My hope was to try and provide help for anyone else that stumbles upon the forum post, but I agree 10 years is a long time lol :)
