Yamaha DX7S sysex bank loading

I have a DX7S (black version with push buttons) that's driving me bonkers. The battery was dead which I replaced and now it saves just fine. However I can't get the loaded sound banks to work properly. They seem to load just fine I get "Bank received" and all the names show up properly but the sounds either have vibrato on them that I can correct by turning down the PM/AM sensitivity for each operator then saving (PITA but doable) or they're completely silent and I can't fix them at all. Occasionally I get one,two even four sounds that work just fine depending on what bank I load. I am assuming that it should just work using mk I banks just fine. Trawling through forums I get no clear answer someone did have the same problem but didn't post how he fixed it. Luckily it came with a cartridge of sounds and they work perfectly. I tried two different programs and two midi interfaces with same results tried slowing transmission down it makes no difference. Can any DX7S owners confirm that mk I banks work just fine ? Anyone have the original presets for the 7S and factory performances ?? Thank you in advance
