I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

There Dave goes again, selling his company....
I can see if he's retiring, maybe... but i'm still not sure about it.

Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite
Maybe Yamaha can buy Focusrite now. That would definitely Make Dave retire
A lot of the Slutspace chatter is how the P5/10 v4 is Dave's farewell gift. Remember how he always said he didn't want to revisit the past? That changes when you hit 65 and see a lot more past behind you than future ahead of you.

yep, he also told me at NAMM 14 that not revisting the past is why the prophet 12 isnt set up to do vector synthesis despite it being set up almost like the VS.meatballfulton wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 10:08 pmMaybe Yamaha can buy Focusrite now. That would definitely Make Dave retire![]()

Uli buys Focusrite
maybe he already owns them! He seems to be on a company buying spree. The company he needs to find and aquire is on that does good coding, firmware for their musical instruments.
"That changes when you hit 65 and see a lot more past behind you than future ahead of you." Dood just get over 60! Esp. now, can only see a few months ahead.

Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite
Certainly curious if they begin to merge Novation and Sequential designs. Chris Huggett (Novation's big time designer) is sadly gone, so we will never see the 2 minds collaborate.
Focusrite overall...I suppose they make solid audio interfaces!
Dave his given so much to electronic music so it's good to see he's set things up to continue onwards. I imagine the HQ in California will remain.

Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite
Our likely accurate prediction: After being his own boss for 50+ years, Dave will now have to answer to corporate higher-ups, will get fed up with that dynamic after the honeymoon has worn off, and will retire from Sequential within 2-4 years max.

Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite
You know Dave worked for Yamaha and Korg for awhile, right?
Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite
I think he'll likely just enjoy his time by designing/developing new products, and without the day to day hassles of having to run a company.
I don't think he'll retire completely, I think he enjoys what he does...

Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite
Good point. Odd someone would sign up to make that one post. And they're clearly not aware that Focusrite is actually quite a cool company to work for. I've been in touch with their support and their engineering staff quite a bit, and it's clear they enjoy their jobs.
Precisely. A perfect match obvs!
