Help identifying difference is E-Mu Procussion models

Post by Josefarno » Mon May 10, 2021 3:39 am

So I’ve been windowshopping for a few weeks now the E-mu Procussion drum module and on EBay I noticed that there were what appeared two different models of this module released:

Doing some research I remember seeing two different years for when this was released depending on the source (I believe 1991 and 1993?), maybe the different visual of the models is because there were two dates they were released? Does anyone know if this is the case, if there is any difference between the models, and which model came out when?

Thanks :)

knowing E-Mu, they were made from 1991 until 1993, because if they didn't have new hardware they just kept pushing out the same machines.

E-Mu redid the look of some of their modules, the internals are the same. That module is related to the original Proteus, differing only in the samples in ROM.

Notice the Proteus 1 (1989), the first version had slots (cosmetic, or maybe cooling), later version had a different faceplate but still the same controls, same as the Procussion in fact.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Yep, they redid the case/externals to other similar modules too, like the Pro/formance piano module in later revisions...

The first version had the large yellow lettering on the front plate, as seen in 1991 review pictures.

Although I'm wondering if they didn't add another 4Mb to the original Procussion later on.
