Mk1 DX7 E! Grey Matter patch saving and sysex transfer troubles!

Post by kdzy » Mon Aug 29, 2022 4:32 pm

Hello! :D
Before you think this is an old topic and has been answered before...believe me I have looked everywhere and cannot find what is wrong with my DX7.

I am trying to restore patches on my modded E! Grey Matter mk1 DX7. I bought it cheap and was told it just needed a new battery. I replaced the battery, the "ram is corrupted" message disappeared and the synth seems to be functioning normal. I can initialize a patch and play it but it will NOT write to any patch number (hold STORE + patch number). When I do this is it reverts back to the old corrupted patch name and sound.

I have a similar problem when I send it bank dumps via sysex from midi-ox. I even slowed the send times and created longer delays. When I send the sysex the synth seems to recognize it. The LED goes to the red dot like its thinking and then "AU" appears. This is supposed to indicate the dump was successful but the old corrupted patches still remain and nothing changes.

I have turned off INT MEM protect and set midi in filters ON and the channel is correct.

It seems I have tried everything. Maybe there is something else wrong internally besides the battery replacement I did.

Hope I can find some help! I really appreciate it!
Thank you!
